Wilson's fame spread into the US in 2014 when she starred as a character on Showtimes The Affair. She performed the role of Alison Lockhart, a young woman who is struggling with her relationship with her past, and is drawn to Noah Solloway. Wilson won a Golden Globe in 2015 for Best Actress, Television Series Drama. The show also starred Maura Terney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson said in British Vogue, "I loved playing the character that has each side of the tale." Noah perceives Alison to be this stylish and sexy model. But Alison views herself in a completely other light. On the inside she feels dowdy. In addition, she said that she does not believe America to be morally upright. In 2018, Wilson exited her show in the midst of the shock of many fans but was cryptic on further details. I was tempted to go but I'm not allowed to reveal the reason why in an interview on CBS This Morning interview in August 2018. Wilson is now focusing on film. In 2016, she was a part as the Pretty Thing from The House in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing. Then, in 2017, she was the mysterious PT Stella, in the sci-fi romcom How to Talk to Girls at Parties. To add more of the genre of horror to her film credits, she's scheduled to appear in the British film version to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller that is based upon a novel by author Sarah Waters. Wilson will also produce the film.
